Fortnite, Unreal Engine 5, and Gears of War creator Epic Games is laying off around 870 staff, or 16% of its employees, as CEO Tim Sweeney publishes statement.

Hyenas, the new multiplayer loot shooter from Alien Isolation and Total War dev Creative Assembly, has just been canceled by Sega, despite a recent closed beta.

Epic games has suddenly laid off 900 employees today, reportedly shutting pf Slack access as they woke up this monring.

Update: Epic has confirmed the layoffs, revealing that 830 total personnel will be affected by the cuts.Epic has published a memo from CEO Tim Sweeney outlining the scope of the layoffs. Sweeney says

Epic Games, worth billions, is laying off 16% of its workforce adding up to around 830 people, according to a report.

Sega is canceling Hyenas, a live-service extraction shooter developed by Creative Assembly, after poor revenue projections. Additionally, Sega will implement layoffs at Creative Assembly.

Creative Assemblys first-person shooter has been canned by Sega.
