The ninth Innovation Community is set to start operations in 2023 with the mission to boost the competitiveness of European Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI) and strengthening their role as drivers of prosperity for Europe.

The COVID-19 crisis had a significant impact on the cultural and creative sectors and industries. In fact, they are among the hardest hit by the pandemic, with a loss of 31% of their activity in 2020 alone. By contrast, the EU and member states acknowledged the high potential growth in the field, allocating €2.4 billion to Horizon Europe’s Cluster 2 on Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society and €2.5 billion to Creative Europe framework programme.
