Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up to send its first astronauts to the Moon by 2040

After the historic success of Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation plans to send Indian astronauts for the first time to the Moon by 2040

ISRO chairman S Somanath said the space agency will send an Indian astronaut to the Moon as early as 2040.

Chairman of Indias space agency S Somanath said a crew of two to three astronauts will be part of Indias maiden manned space mission.

The Bengaluru-based space agency is currently working on the country's maiden manned mission, 'Gaganyaan', which aims to send astronauts into Low Earth Orbit and bring them back safely to earth.

After the historic success of its Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is going full throttle with its plans to send Indian astronauts for the first time to the Moon by 2040, ISRO Chairman S Somanath said.

A crew module uprighting system will keep the crew module upright after splashdown in the sea. It is among the many elements that will be tested in the second test mission, TV-D2.
