Crews Wednesday expedited demolition on the former 1895 Hotel building in Allentown after its roof became weighed down by heavy snowfall.
Allentown Fire Capt. John Christopher told lehighvalleylive.com a firefighter reported Tuesday seeing a portion of the top of the building at Seventh and Linden streets buckling outward. The building has sat vacant for several years with fencing surrounding the site.
Firefighters then responded, limiting access to the Strata parking garage on Linden Street until representatives of City Center Investment Corp., the building’s owner, arrived to the scene.
