Reviewed by Graham Jovanovic One of CCMs first musical giants, these lovingly compiled compilations are now back in the UK racks. Volume 1 proves to be as fresh probably as the day these songs were first inspired. Inspiration is an appropriate term because Keiths obvious enthusiasm and deep faith proves to be infectiously uplifting. Endless combinations of evocative melodies and profound lyrics combine to show a songwriter of obvious gifting and anointed delivery. These compilations include son...

Reviewed by Tony Cummings Those revivalists from Northern Ireland Rend Collective started a boutique label with Sparrow last year and the first act signed were Urban Rescue. These guys from San Diego play electro-tinged pop rock and indeed "Never Stop" is an eminently danceable groove declares that there is no place the band would rather be than communing with God (a lyrical theme that reminded me of a pop dance gem of another era, V*ennas "Where I Wanna Be"). Another truly outstanding cut here...

Reviewed by Giles D Morrison A featured artist on both CR CDs 17 and 18 with "Maker Of All Things" and "Day After Day" Tim Hughes has had substantial recent exposure to CR readers and has touched many with his tremendous work at Soul Survivor. Now this superbly produced studio album is getting much play on Cross Rhythms radio. Hailing from the same church as Matt Redman, this solo album elevates another songwriter/worship leader to the premier league. Varying from power balllads to acoustic gui...

Nathan Sheridan: A Nashville-based singer songwriter with a tale to tell Monday 18th January 2021 Nathan Sheridan Nathan Sheridan emerged into the CCM bright lights in 2018 with his powerful debut album Broken With You. Cross Rhythms radio subsequently picked up on Nathans "Starts With You And Me" which has a particularly appropriate message in the troubled times through which were passing. I spoke to the young songsmith to find out more about his life and music. Tony: Im reading a bit of you...

Reviewed by Tony Cummings I cant resist quoting from a review which youll find on the Hallels website: "Alisa Turner has a voice that pulverises. With a striking clarity of a Jenn Johnson, a worshipping lilt of a Darlene Zschech and an undergirding Holy Spirit power of Kim Walker-Smith, Turner makes you stop and worship when she sings." Alisa is no mean songwriter either. The opener "Lift My Eyes" built on the words of Psalm 121 is a gem and will surely get radio play. Almost as good is "Not Ev...

Reviewed by Ewan Jones Something Like Silas aim to break out of the traditional mould of popular worship music - they claim to not be content just serving a "Christian sub-culture" but by jumping headfirst into mainstream audience venues. Despite making their name leading at their home church, Flood, in San Diego, very few of the tracks on this CD would fit too easily into your average Sunday service. However, that is no bad thing - with this release, SLS have hit all the right notes. It is an ...

Reviewed by Stephen Luff This album follows the 2009 EP Courage And Fire, with nine new songs at the same high octane pace, more akin to a rock concert than the Abundant Life recordings of the church it is a part of. This is a positive strength and helps it stand out amongst the many recordings out there. It is evident from the start that the quality of musicianship is very high, the opener "In This Moment", although tame compared to the pace of some other tracks on the album, the souring guita...
