Akande assumes office as new Commissioner of police in Cross River

The new Cross River State Commisioner of police, Sikiru Kayode Akande has assumed office as the 41st Commisioner to be posted to the Command.
This was made known in a press release on Tuesday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state ,PPRO,DSP Irene Ugbo and made available to Vanguard.
He resumed officially on Monday the 18th of January as the 41st Commisioner of Police in Cross River .
Akande who is an indigene of Ibadan South-East local Government Area,Oyo State,holds B.SC (Hon) in Political Science from University of Benin, appointed into the Force on 31 March 1990 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River State Command, has paraded two suspected child traffickers alongside underage children in Calabar.
The suspects were heading to Ogun state, southwest Nigeria.
Speaking with Channels Television at the Defence Headquarters in Calabar, the State’s Commandant, Majekodunmi Abidemi, explained that the suspects were nabbed by the eagle-eyed officers who were looking out for them following a close trial of people, agents involved in child trafficking in Cross River State.
While the search for the master minder of the trafficking who is still at large continues, the victims would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for further investigations.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 10 persons for alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The suspects are Jonathan Daniel Adebayo, Lawal Waidi Seun, Adeosun Joseph, Taiwo Gbemileke, Oseni Omotayo, Emmanuel Fakiyesi, Rasheed Ogunlana, Oladunni Segun, Sowunmi Rotimi and Efetobore Prince Wilfred.
They were nabbed during an early morning operation in the Alagbado area of Lagos.
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Monday, said the operation followed information about their activities
Items recovered were cars, mobile phones, laptop computers, passports, a digital video recorder and a cheque book.
The suspects will be charged to court after full investigation.
Residents also described the victim lynched at EfioAnwan as someone who lived around and was notorious for stealing in the neighbourhood before he met his Waterloo.

The Cross River State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded two suspected child traffickers in Calabar.
The traffickers were heading to Ogun state with some children in their possession when they were intercepted.
Speaking with Channels television at the Defence Headquarters in Calabar, the State’s Commandant, Majekodunmi Abidemi, explained that the suspects were nabbed by officers who were on the normal business of trailing people and agents involved in child trafficking across Cross River State.
Mr Abidemi said investigations suggest that the two traffickers are of a crime syndicate operating within the state.
