Some may have noticed a flurry of activity at the Keokuk mall, at a storefront to the right of the main entrance. The Crossing, an independent non-denominational church headquartered in Quincy, Ill., opens thrift stores near as many of its church locations as possible, and Keokuk is the latest place to welcome The Crossing Thrift Store.
âOur thrift stores fund The Crossingâs benevolence outreach ministry and also provide employment opportunities in the various communities we serve,â said Benevolence Pastor Bruce Freeman. âWe have a church here in Keokuk at 610 Timea St., and we hope to a thrift store wherever we have a church.â Hence the new thrift store, the ninth operated by The Crossing, which just opened at the mall on Dec. 16.
