It looked a lot like Christmas in Crossville Saturday for the town’s annual Crossville Winterfest. The event featured a craft fair, pageant and parade among other events through the day.

Vona LaNoir Brown, 102, of Crossville, Illinois departed earth on April 13, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, Illinois with loved ones by her side to support her. She was born July 14, 1920, in Crossville, the daughter of Dan E. and Verla Smith Brown. She graduated from Crossville Community High School with the Class of 1938 as Salutatorian. Following high school, LaNoir moved to Kankakee with her family, and she attended college. She lived with her family in Crossville and she went to work at Clyde Rawlinson's Department Store where she worked for 10 years. LaNoir moved to San Diego, California in her late 20s to help her sister Phyllis who was a Navy wife. She became extremely close with Phyllis' two daughters, Pamela and Toni, and her oldest sister's daughter, Susie. She worked for Marston's Department Store and managed the cosmetics department and moved with the company when they opened two new locations. She eventually retired from what became The Bro
