On Valentine's Day 1968, the Grateful Dead performed an inspired set that was dedicated to the legendary Beat Generation icon Neal Cassady.

“Dark Star” was introduced by the Grateful Dead during a concert that took place on this date in 1968.

The area in front of the Forest Stage on this sun splashed Saturday afternoon at The Hog Farm Hideaway is alive with a swirling mass of tie-dyed dust dancing dervishes as Painted Mandolin takes the stage. The band, who gets their name from a lyric in a Jerry Garcia Band song, is fronted by multi-instrumentalist and former Garcia/Grisman sideman Joe Craven.

Bill Kreutzmann wasnt much of a songwriter during his time with the Grateful Dead, but one song benefited from his unique approach to rhythm.

The Phil Lesh & Friends lineup known as "The Q," or Phil Lesh Quintet, returned on Monday to kick off the Grateful Dead bassist's nine-show residency at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.
