Google Cloud has developed a new threat-detecting solution to curb hack attacks on crypto miners. The tool, named Virtual Machine Threat Detection, will work to identify and stop crypto mining malware attack facilitated by virtual machines.

"Today, federal law enforcement demonstrates once again that we can follow money through the blockchain," the DOJ said in a press release.

Wormhole, a site that allows the transfer of information from one crypto network to another, said on Twitter on Wednesday that it was "exploited" for 120,000 units of a version of the second-largest cryptocurrency, ether.

Crypto platform Wormhole Portal was exploited by unidentified hacker(s) earlier this week. The attack cost the company Ether worth $322 million (roughly Rs. 2,410 crore). This is the second attack in two weeks where a blockchain bridge was breached by hackers.

Wormhole, a "decentralised finance" site that allows the transfer of information across crypto networks, said it had been "exploited" for 120,000 digital tokens connected to the second-largest cryptocurrency, ether.

Binance on January 29 also restricted 281 personal Nigerian accounts, with approximately 38% of these at the request of international law enforcement.

The platform, that connects lenders and borrowers, offers hackers $2 million to return the loot.

Crypto.com was breached by hackers, leading to major loss of funds stored in Ether. While an investigation has been initiated in the case, CEO Kris Marszalek claims to have hardened its security infrastructure following the hack attack. Details on the type of hack remains unknown.

A loophole in the protocol’s user interface is being doubted as the entry point for the attackers. Internal as well as external investigations in the case are going on.

Hackers have stolen nearly $120 million from multiple cryptocurrency wallets connected to the decentralised finance platform BadgerDAO.
