After a visitor within their vehicle encountered a bear that has become habituated to humans and vehicles, Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials announced that Rich Mountain Road in the Cades Cove area will be closed to all traffic starting Saturday, August 5, until further notice.

The Little River Trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park will be closed for repairs from July 31 through Sept. 7.

A stretch of Alum Cave Trail will be closed to most hikers on weekdays between May 15 and May 25 while crews repair a damaged section.
