Oil and gas company Energean confirmed on Wednesday that the first gas has been delivered this morning at its operated Karish field, located offshore Israel.
Israel’s Energy Minister Karine Elharrar met her Cypriot counterpart Natasa Pilides in Nicosia on Monday with a view to reviewing the discussions concerning the issue.
Cyprus stands ready to contribute towards the EU’s efforts to secure gas, to be delivered to European markets, said Wednesday Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Natasa Pilides at the 7th East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) Ministerial Meeting, held in Cairo.
Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Energy Marios Panagides, who represented Cyprus at the meeting, explained during his intervention that although Cyprus does not dependent on Russian natural gas, it is nevertheless affected by to the significant increases in energy prices.
