Chennai, Sep 18 (PTI) Strains between the AIADMK and BJP seemed to have reached a flashpoint on Tuesday when a senior leader of the Dravidian party said there was no alliance with the saffron organisation and that any decision on a poll pact will be decided only during the election.

The party trained its guns against BJP TN president K Annamalai, saying he was only keen to "promote" himself and was therefore targeting late Dravidian stalwarts Annadurai, fondly addressed as Anna (elder brother), EV Ramasamy Periyar, late AIADMK veterans MG Ramachandran (MGR) and J Jayalalithaa.

Jayakumar, who has served as Speaker and finance minister, lashed out at Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai for his criticism of Dravidian stalwart CN Annadurai and said the party workers wouldn't tolerate any insult directed at the late chief minister.

The padayatra, ‘En Mann, En Makkal’ (My land, My people) was flagged off by BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the temple town of Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district.

AIADMK Senior leader D Jayakumar, arrested in connection with three cases including one on land-grab, was released from the Central prison in Chennai on Saturday after being granted conditional bail by the Madras High Court.

The Madras High Court granted conditional bail to former Tamil Nadu Minister D Jayakumar in a case related to assault and disrobing a man during the Tamil Nadu civic polls held in February.
