Dentons announced Tuesday that it is separating from the Beijing Dacheng Law Offices but will continue a “preferred” relationship with the Chinese law firm.

Dentons is splitting from its Chinese operations to comply with impending regulations, one of the more significant withdrawals by a Western company.

Global law firm Dentons said on Tuesday that it has split with its China branch, Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, in the wake of new national security restrictions imposed by the Chinese government.

Dentons’ decision to quit the country and new investment limits by the Biden administration underscore the growing challenges facing Western companies there.
