Maharashtra Covid-19 lockdown news live: Night curfew, monitoring go for a toss in Nagpur
The rapid spread of Covid-19 finally forced the Uddhav Thackeray government to announce lockdown-like restrictions across the state from 8pm on Monday. On weekends, a complete lockdown will be imposed. A state government notification issued late Sunday said all shops except essential services would remain shut till the end of the month, leaving people only Monday to buy non-essential goods this month. Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally crossed 30 lakh on Sunday with the addition of 57,074 new cases, the highest single-day rise seen so far in the pandemic. Divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao on Sunday said that Pune will continue with the prevailing restrictions till April 9 when the next Covid-19 review meeting under deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar will take place. Mumbai News LIVE: COVID-19 norms flouted at Dadar market
With Maharashtra recording more than half a lakh coronavirus cases on Sunday, out of which, over 11,000 were from Mumbai alone, the state government has announced the implementation of strict restrictions till April 30, including daily night curfews and weekend lockdowns. Besides, prohibitory orders will be in force during daytime on weekdays.A fire broke out at the Dahisar Jumbo COVID-19 Centre on Sunday, and around 50 patients who were being treated there, were rescued. The blaze was soon brought under control and no injuries or casualties were reported.In other news, the Mumbai Cricket Association has confirmed that the IPL 2021 matches scheduled to be held in the city will go on as planned despite the curbs imposed in the metropolis.
