Pacific Daily News View Comments A group of Republican senators introduced legislation that would require meetings between the governor and all members of the Guam Legislature to be open to the public. Recently, Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero met with senators to discuss how the American Rescue Plan funds would be used. The meeting was closed to the public, and was followed by a press conference. Sens. James Moylan, Chris Duenas and Tony Ada introduced legislation on Monday that would mandate that closed-door meetings could not take place between the governor and all senators. Guam law allows any meeting called by the governor of Guam, where they invite senators of the Guam Legislature, to be closed to the public, and likewise any meeting where the speaker of the Guam Legislature invites the governor to meet with the senators of the Guam Legislature, that discussion can also be in a secret environment, Moylan said in a press release Monday. Vaccinated travelers exempt from quarantine beginning Saturday Pacific Daily News View Comments Fully vaccinated travelers to Guam won t be subject to quarantine at the government facility beginning Saturday, according to Adelup. Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero issued an executive order Thursday afternoon, relaxing Guam s travel and quarantine restrictions. The island remains in Pandemic Condition of Readiness 3, and social gatherings are limited to no more than 100 people, according to the order.  At 12:01 a.m. May 15, incoming travelers who received all necessary doses of an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine  Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson won t be required to undergo quarantine, upon verification.   Travelers availing of this exemption shall be required to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and comply with applicable (Public Health) guidance, including for verification requirements, the order states.

4.4 magnitude earthquake north of Yigo Pacific Daily News A 4.4 magnitude struck Guam at 12:36 a.m. Tuesday morning. The earthquake struck about 28.6 miles north of Yigo with a depth of about 112 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey recorded. There were no reports made to Guam 911 dispatch of damages or injuries from the earthquake.  The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind the community that when an earthquake strikes, conduct the earthquake procedure, “Drop, Cover and Hold On” until the shaking stops.
