The nominees for the 27th annual Maple Blues Awards have been announced, with the Blackburn Brothers, Matt Andersen and Brandon Isaak among the leading nominees.
"Matriach of the Blues", Dalannah Gail Bowen (76) is a member of the NY Blues Hall of Fame and has been singing professionally for more than half a century. Her music career began in Winnipeg, Manitoba with an all-female group called the Feminine Touch. Touch had the good fortune to tour Canada, opening shows for groups that included the Guess Who and The Monkees. Her album. (released in Fall of 2021), known is titled “ In My Own Words” and was released on her label Quest Records, who selected their 15 favourite songs written and recorded by her on the label over the past 15 years and compiled this anthology to celebrate her 75 years of “Living and Loving” . They included a 16th bonus track (her latest single) called Blues Keep Knocking’.In November 2021 Dalannah was nominated for the prestigious Maple Blues “Lifetime Achievement” award, and was notably the producer of the decades long annual “Blues For Christmas Benefit"
