The ABC has revealed Patricia Karvelas will replace Stan Grant as host of Q+A, as the veteran journalist moves on to "new projects" with the public broadcaster.

Stan Grant has permanently stepped down from hosting the ABC's Q+A, after receiving racist abuse and threats on the lives of himself and his family. 

Patricia Karvelas becomes host of ABC show after Stan Grant opts not to return.

Highlights include NAIDOC Week Awards, Going Places with Ernie Dingo, Firebite, Limbo, First Weapons & First Inventors.

"It’s crucial we adapt," says ABC News boss as around 40 existing roles go including its Political Editor.
