Fishers, Indianapolis and Citizens Energy are quacking down on scofflaw duck hunters at Geist Reservoir.

Residents at 1,400 homes received notice that their water will be shut off on Sept. 30, because their landlord failed to pay $1.7 million in bills.

For decades, the site on the edge of Geist Reservoir off of Oilo Road was an active limestone quarry.

Citizens Energy Group announced Wednesday that it wants to acquire a small, little-known political subdivision in Marion County that was months away from starting construction of its own wastewater treatment plant to avoid Citizens’ rate hikes.

The city, state and Citizens Energy Group are taking action in legal action that could force the sale of three apartment complexes.

The lawsuit also alleges that the owners of the complexes defrauded both Citizens Energy Group and residents by collecting payments that the owners said would go to utilities—but didn't.

The landlord has accumulated more than $1.3 million in unpaid water bills since they stopped making payments for utility services in Spring 2021.
