The Alamo and the attorney for the owner of Moses Rose’s Hideout announced Thursday that a deal had been struck to acquire the bar property, which sits in the footprint of a planned Alamo Visitors Center and Museum.

The City of San Antonio is suing for eminent domain of a downtown bar after the owner rejected a final offer of $5.26 million.

The battle over Moses Rose’s Hideout continues, and now the bar owner is taking legal action over the latest offer for the business.

The holdout owner of a bar in the way of a new Alamo museum has said the City of San Antonio’s “best and final” $5.26 million offer to buy him out isn’t good enough. Now, with the city and its partners prepared to use eminent domain, the deadlock appears to be headed to court.

Moses Rose’s Hideout, at 516 E. Houston Street, sits a musket shot away from the Alamo and at the edge of the footprint of a proposed Alamo Visitors Center and Museum -- a key part of the $400 million plan to redesign Alamo Plaza. Owner Vince Cantu says he is open to selling the property, but he wants the right price.
