Good afternoon. Im dr. Lucy [speaker not understood]. Im a resident of [speaker not understood] and researcher at the university of california San Francisco. I want to make one point. There is no evidence that Electronic Cigarettes, how theyre used on a National Level help people quit. We published a study at the american journal of Public Health where we surveyed 1800 u. S. Smokers all over the United States and where we found that both people who use Electronic Cigarettes did not have any easier time quitting regular cigarettes than those who didnt. And you will hear a lot of individual stories written to you as told saying ecigarettes help them quit. What does it mean . For every person where there is a story of success, there is more than one person out there for whom ecigarettes did not m
I am a medical marijuana patient for chronic pain condition for which there is no other remedy. I also suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. And my physician at the Va Medical Center recommended i try ecigarettes to stop smoking. Within three weeks i stopped, and now this is my vaporizer. I want to recommend to the committee that they not recommend this legislation to the full board of supervisors because there are too many unresolved questions like the marijuana issue, and whether the restrictions apply to vaporizers that do not look like cigarettes as i was assured by victor lent it did not. For many years i helped facilitate a free stop Smoking Program for the Lgbt Community here. My brothers and sisters, mostly in their 40s, 50s and 60s, this program is called the last drag. And this is why we really ought to call what were talking about here an adolescent disease. So, any reasonable steps that we can take now to prevent as many young people as possible from a lifetime of addiction to nicotine would make for an intellige
