A jury has found a man guilty of shooting and killing an Everett Police Officer outside a Starbucks store last year.

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A man accused of killing a police officer in Washington state last year has been convicted of aggravated first-degree murder. A jury found Richard Rotter guilty Monday in the death of Everett police officer Dan Rocha, the Daily Herald reported .

Jury deliberations started in the murder trial against Richard Rotter, who has been charged in the 2022 murder of Everett Police Officer David Rocha. 

Richard Rotter's attorneys argue he was not able to make rational decisions when he killed officer Dan Rocha.

Defense attorneys called only two witnesses Thursday, then rested their case in the trial of Richard Rotter.

Jurors deliberated for just over three hours Friday with no verdict on the aggravated murder charge for Richard Rotter.

“Try to put a wild cat inside a cage? … See what happens,” said Richard Rotter, accused of killing officer Dan Rocha.
