The total retroactive payment is $327,855, while the additional cost for 2023 will be $73,767; and for 2024, $50,662, according to the mayor.

Jeff Reser recommends council completely eliminate the citys tax credit for residents who work in other cities and is warning cuts will be necessary.

"Difficult decisions need to be made for the future success of our community," Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser said, ahead of his final 14 months in office.

Everyones fear — taxpayers and elected officials alike — was that the credit may be reduced or eliminated to generate more revenue for the city.

In all, the increase would generate an additional $81,000 per year for current operations and $27,222 for the replacement fund.

Mark Makeever suggested simplifying the language used to issue warnings, but allowing the presiding officer to have someone removed immediately.

The states former treasurer is hoping to earn the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by the retiring Sen. Rob Portman.
