we are clear eyed about the risks the united states from terrorism. dana: joined by jack keane, fox news senior strategic analyst. let me ask you, sir, about the fact, what president trump did when he first took office to turn that situation around in syria and to go after isis. deserves a lot of credit for that. secretary mattis was a big part of that as well. oh yeah, absolutely. remember president obama waited nine months from the time isis had invaded iraq before he provided any support whatsoever to the iraqi government who had requested it nine months earlier. it wasn t until mosul fell in june that we finally got around to providing some air support and some ground support, two months later. then i think he totally got it wrong. the main effort should not have been iraq. the main effort should have been the isis safe haven in syria and we should have taken that down
yesterday, you re not looking for perfection. you wanted to try to get something done. tell me a little more about what you mean by that. it would have been a $25 billion bill. we had it fully funded. we would have had a separate bill so we wouldn t have been spending money adding to the debt. that s what i meant when i said perfection. dana: i don t know if you were able to hear senator ted cruz. i was interested in the language he s using. that the democrats are being extremists, that the republicans are the ones using commonsense, the president is equivocal in what he will accept and not accept. but it s the president who has the middle of the road approach here. do you think that will work? i think he s right. because when you look at it, 60% of americans want a wall. i come from a boarder state in arizona. most people understand we need to have a wall to help us fight this onslaught of folks coming across. it s not just people. it s drugs, weapons, human
something that frustrates the president and house leaders. at the end of the day, the house controls our business. we can t change that. but i do think what the president is saying really does raise a serious question that a lot of people wonder. why is the 60 vote requirement there? get back to the old filibuster where every senator can debate as long as they want. reporter: but senate republicans worry they would regret doing that one day when democrats are in the majority. dana: thank you. joining us for more on all of this, chris stirewalt, co-host of the i ll tell you what pod cast. tell me what. what is happening down there? few things i want to talk about with you. first this nuclear option thing one more time. one more time. dana: house is frustrated the senate won t pull this trigger. senate saying, one, we don t have the votes to do it and
dana: supreme court announcing justice ruth bader ginsberg under went surgery to remove cancerous growths from her lung. tests following a rib fracture she suffered last month. jillian turner has more from washington. reporter: hi. good afternoon, dana. so the supreme court has announced that justice ginsberg under went a procedure earlier today to remove two cancerous growths from her left lung. the court said she is in the clear currently. there are no remaining traces of the disease anywhere in her body. that s the good news. as of now, she remains in the hospital. a statement from the court reads in part, quote, currently no further treatment is planned. justice ginsburg is resting comfortably and is expected to remain in the hospital for a few
dana: let me stop you there because senator cruz is at the microphone. irresponsible thing to do, but it s a decision for schumer. you didn t have 51 people to get the procedural vote to move the vote to the floor so how are you expecting to get 60 votes on this if it does reach the floor? listen, the president said if chuck shumer and the democrats adopt an extreme line, if they re not willing to give a penny for border security, then schumer will go forward and shut the government down. and that would be an unfortunate thing. earlier this year we saw a schumer shutdown, where chuck shumer did that previously. i hope we don t see a schumer shutdown particularly going into christmas. that would be a mistake. but, listen. the democratic caucus in the senate is captive to the extreme left of their party. there s an irony in this. the house bill has $5 billion in border security, reasonable funding level. most of the democrats have
