CANTON — Jolene F. Munger was promoted to St. Lawrence County director of public health during Monday’s Board of Legislators meeting. Her appointment garnered unanimous support from county legislators.
POTSDAM â State Sen. Joseph A. Griffo, R-Rome, presented New York State Senate Commendation Awards to three exemplary St. Lawrence County women Tuesday afternoon at the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.
Those honored include SUNY Potsdam President Kristin G. Esterberg, Director of the Potsdam Snack Pack Program Laurell Brault and Dana O. McGuire, former St. Lawrence County Public Health director.
Sen. Griffo said the individuals honored âdeserve to be recognized for the exceptional work that they do in their communities and throughout the region.â
He added that âeach honoree has shown remarkable commitment and dedication to making St. Lawrence County and the north country a better place for all.â
CANTON â One month after the official resignation date of St. Lawrence County Public Health Director Dana O. McGuire, county lawmakers unanimously passed a resolution to contract with a recruiting agency to find a replacement.
The resolution, presented during a special county Board of Legislators meeting Monday night, authorizes Chairman William J. Sheridan to sign a contract with Axelon Services Corporation and modify the 2021 budget to reflect a contract expense of up to $24,117. The funds are being sourced from the countyâs contingency account.
The contract cost may total between $19,587 and $24,117, based on the salary awarded to the successful director candidate, according to the resolution. The salary range is set at $97,933 to $120,581.
