On Saturday at 3PM, the Danbury Fire Department responded to Westwood Terrace for a report of an unconscious child. Upon arrival, crews learned that a 9-year-old girl was recovered from the backyard swimming pool by a bystander. That person immediately administered first aid to the child, and when emergency responders arrived, the child was awake and breathing on her own. She was rushed to the hospital. There has been no further update on her condition. It serves as a reminder that the summer season is now upon us. Now is the time to learn life-saving skills like CPR. Wear a life jacket around large bodies of water, and remember… when kids are in or near water, closely supervise them at all times. Drowning happens quickly and quietly.
