How to keep a dog from jumping the fence
FacebookTwitterEmail
Dear Cathy,
My dog is jumping the fence, but not running off. He comes running if I call him. Granted there were dogs in heat these past couple weeks, but he’s been neutered prior to him coming into our care three years ago.
He is well-behaved, but not too friendly with other dogs and definitely not with cats. Any suggestions?
Daniel
Dear Daniel,
It sounds like he is just jumping the fence for fun, and then doesn’t know what to do when he gets out. First, remove anything in the yard that can be an assist for him to get up and over the fence, which may include a stack of wood, a doghouse placed too close to the fence, a large rock, etc.
