Notre-Dame-des-Neiges was responding to a group representing families who say the cemetery can’t legally keep bodies in storage past May 15.

Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery will reopen for Mother’s Day, putting a labour dispute between itself and striking cemetery workers on hold.  But it will close again on Monday despite the fact that many families are pushing to bury their loved ones.

The recent ice storm caused significant damage to hundreds of trees making the cemetery too dangerous for the public according to officials.

With operations and maintenance workers on strike, the cemetery says some roads are blocked by fallen branches and trees.

Doctors star Matthew Chambers has revealed that today (April 4) is his final day filming for the BBC soap as Doctor Daniel Granger.

"We’ve always been available, but they are the ones who have chosen not to restart discussions," Notre-Dame-des-Neiges management says. "Give us a date and we’ll make ourselves available.”

The gates of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery have been locked since the strike began Jan. 12, meaning people also cant visit the graves of those previously interred.
