Reduction in 30-day readmission rate seen for schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder with long-acting versus oral antipsychotics.

Patients with schizophrenia discharged on an LAI antipsychotic had significantly lower 30-day psychiatric readmission rates than those sent home with an oral antipsychotic.

The study found that antipsychotic injections account for a 75% decrease in a 30-day rehospitalization period compared to oral antipsychotics.
