Governor-led policy is squishy so far — it’s not outright preventing development — and the state is pressuring federal land managers to butt out of the migration game.

Tourists and travelers have been stopping at Daniel Junction since 1940 when the original business on the site was established by Leander “Linn” Sargent and his wife Helen. The Bear's Den restaurant is where the locals eat.

A $15 million wildlife underpass near Highway 189 was dedicated Thursday and includes nine underpasses, 33 miles of fencing, and two miles of new road. The goal is to keep wildlife off of the road, thereby protecting motorists and the animals.

Vegetable production in the 5,000-square-foot greenhouse includes tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, kale, lettuce, arugula, and beets. It's so popular, it can't currently keep up with local demand. But there are plans for five more greenhouses.

The Green River Bar is a place where real cowboys stop to bend an elbow and swap stories. You'll likely hear the jingle of spurs on the hardwood floor or see a cowboy pull a package of Drum tobacco out of his pocket, hand-roll a cigarette and smoke it.
