The 33-month sentence handed down to Michael Cheff of Oakland was far from the 30 total years he could have faced.

Frank Toledo and Daniel Pent, former Paterson cops who were investigated by the FBI, were sentenced to federal prison terms.

Frank Toledo was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison Friday. Daniel Pent was also expected to be sentenced.

Jonathan Bustios and Eudy Ramos were both sentenced to two years in federal prison. Matthew Torres was given probation.

Ex-Paterson cop Spencer Finch has been indicted on charges related to an alleged 2021 assault captured on video.

The prison sentences for six Paterson cops convicted of stealing money from people they illegally stopped have been delayed.

Michael Cheff, convicted of corruption charges and facing as much as 30 years in prison, is requesting a new trial.

Social justice activists debated whether the revelations were worth the lighter sentences offered to rogue cops.

Michael Cheff was arrested in early 2020 and, at the time, was the eighth Paterson police officer to be charged in a years-long corruption investigation.
