Citing a “crisis of availability” of care, transgender people are asking a federal judge to block a new state law making it more difficult for trans adults to access hormone-replacement therapy and surgery.

The abortion rights amendment makes no explicit reference to gender-affirming care or treatment.

Schools soon may be able to count populations of transgender youths. That would help with care, but the obstacles are huge, especially amid a cultural reckoning on identity issues.
