Community activist Billy Claasen says Jerobejin Van Wyks murder in February is still affecting the community, especially his mother, who may only find closure once the court case is finalised.

The an accused of Van Wyks murder, 56-year-old Daniel Smit, is still awaiting a bed at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital where hes to undergo observation.

Eyewitness News has been informed of the incident by a community activist and police have confirmed the arrest of a 58-year-old man.

The Klawer Magistrates Court heard that Daniel Smit was number 87 on the waiting list for a space at the facility.

The family of 13-year-old Jerobiojin van Wyk, who was found disemboweled and had his remains thrown in a drain, fears justice could take a long time to prevail.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Tuesday confirmed that murder-accused Daniel Smit was number 93 on the waiting list for psychiatric evaluation.

The 56-year-old man charged with murdering a 13-year-old boy in the Western Cape has made another appearance in the Klawer Magistrate's Court.
