A BRADFORD man who survived a horrendous explosion has spoken of his ordeal. Motor engineer James Gardiner was removing a tyre from a JCB in June last year when it burst, catapulting fragments of rubber and wire on to his face.
James in hospital Local paramedics were scrambled to the scene, but due to the severity of James’ injuries, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, whose aircraft was temporarily out of action, dispatched their rapid response vehicle with their Critical Care Team. They were on scene within eight minutes of being dispatched. Emergency services were forced to create a makeshift operating theatre at Golden Acre Park, Leeds, where the Yorkshire Air Ambulance crew assessed James, from Wibsey, and put him into an induced coma.
