Jim Ross spent many Saturdays watching his boyhood idol, Danny Hodge, wrestling on television.
The introduction wasnât only entertainment. It paved Rossâ professional journey, which has included a Hall of Fame career in professional wrestling.
On Saturday, Ross was saddened after learning of Hodgeâs death. Hodge died Thursday at 88.
It wasnât a loss only felt in the Perry nativeâs home state. Hodge was beloved around the globe.
âDanny Hodge was a legend in Japan. He was a legend in Australia. He was a legend in Canada. It wasnât just in Tulsa and Oklahoma City,â Ross said. âIt was a whole bigger picture. The reason itâs not as celebrated today is because when he did so many of his great things, media was limited.â
As we noted earlier today, legendary wrestler Danny Hodge passed away at the age of 88, with various names in the wrestling industry all paying tribute. The latest is the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, where Hodge was inducted in 1976, releasing a statement on his passing.

That’s what I was told.
