Kenya coach Jacob Mulee on his successful surgery in India

Mulee, one of the most experienced coaches in the country, returned to take charge of Harambee Stars in October 2020 just after Nick Mwendwa had won the Football Kenya Federation presidential re-election. He took over from Francis Kimanzi who had overseen a number of matches including two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo and Egypt. Mulee came and led Kenya during a home game against Comoros where they were held to a 1-1 draw in Nairobi. His second game was the qualifier in Moroni, where Harambee Stars were beaten 2-1 and saw their chances of qualifying for the 2022 Afcon finals become slim.

Battle of the Stars reloaded : The standard Sports

Last updated 13 days ago | By Rodgers Eshitemi Harambee Stars’ Abdalla Hassan (left) and Sebit Okuer of South Sudan’s Bright Stars during a friendly match at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, March 13, 2021. [Jonah Onyango, Standard] National team Harambee Stars will be hoping for an improved performance and another friendly win today when they collide with neighbouring Taifa Stars at Nyayo National Stadium. Though Elvis Rupia s second half volley helped Stars beat South Sudan 1-0 in their first warm up friendly at the same venue on Saturday, their performance was not convincing. Kenya, who are ranked third in Group G of the 2021 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers, are using the build-ups as part of their preparation ahead of their last group qualification fixtures against joint group leaders Egypt and Togo.

Injury-hit Bandari see off Western Stima, Bidco United pick slim win vs Vihiga United

The hosts created yet another promising chance in the 13th minute but Nicholas Meja’s attempt hit the woodwork and the ball went out as Western Stima got a minute to re-strategise against a determined opponent. Kenga again was in the middle of a well-engineered move in the 17th minute when he manoeuvred along the right-wing and outfoxed Baron Oketch before he laid the ball on William Wadri’s path. The Ugandan could not get an opener though as he shot wide despite having no opponent close. Bandari, who are yet to confirm a new head coach – although they are in talks with Casa Mbungo – since Ken Odhiambo left for Sofapaka, wasted another chance in the 20th minute. Danson Chetambe dribbled past a number of Western Stima opponents, squared the ball for Mohamed Siraj and the midfielder put a low cross in to Darius Msagha but the forward failed to tap home from close range.
