MACON, Ga. (AP) — A central Georgia county is scrambling to find a new elections supervisor with only months to go before voting for governor and other state and congressional leaders. The Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections' first Black elections supervisor, Jeanetta Watson, has resigned effective Jan.

Jeanetta Watson, who became the county’s first Black elections supervisor after Elaine Carr retired in 2012, resigned last week.

The Community Foundation of Central Georgia announced the 20 recipients of the second round of the Downtown Challenge 2.0 grants.

Early voting started Tuesday across Middle Georgia. Election officials told us what you can expect when you go to the polls.

The foundation also announced the creation of a new fund for Houston County, which was created by local leaders to make grants supporting organizations.

The action plan will be published to the public in the next few weeks.
