Your Dec. 7 editorial, “Amazon is hiring. Now the test is treating employees humanely,” made numerous allegations without an opportunity for Amazon to respond. It’s important that readers understand the facts, which you misrepresented to paint a skewed, sensationalized narrative.
We’re proud to offer a minimum $15 wage, especially when the federal minimum is unchanged since 2009 at $7.25 an hour. In New Jersey, we offer a least $15.25 an hour, $4.25 more than the state’s 2020 minimum wage. You say that’s “lower than a typical warehouse job,” which is a flawed, inaccurate analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The truth is, Amazon is a great place to work with industry-leading pay, benefits on Day One, 401(k) match, and skill improvement programs.
