School board recognizes GRHS girlsâ basketball team
The ISD 318 School Board welcomed the Grand Rapids High School (GRHS) girlsâ basketball team to its regular meeting Tuesday, April 6 to recognize the student athletes for making it to the state-level competition this spring and winning the section 3A championship.
âJust a remarkable group of student athletes that represent 318 with excellence and pride on the court, in the classroom, and in our community. So very proud of these young ladies and our coaches,â GRHS Activities Director Anne Campbell commented.Â
Campbell presented Head Coach Kris Hamling with their trophy for making it to State at the meeting. The team is primarily made up of ninth and tenth grade students, with one senior on the team, Captain Jenny Bowman.Â
National Assistant Principals Week is April 5 through 9. ISD 318 is joining schools across the nation in honoring the enormous contributions of our APs. Our Assistant Principals play an important role in connecting with students and families, as well as ensuring district goals and initiatives are met.
âSupport of our students and staff this year over any other year is extremely vital and needs to be immediate. Our Assistant Principals are listeners, problem-solvers, confidants, and sometimes even comedians,â said East Rapids Elementary Principal Ryan DeBay. âAt East, our Assistant Principal Mr. Goodwin begins each day with joy in his announcements and is available throughout the day to support our teachers and kids with whatever they need. The job of a principal is to empower people and make them feel that there is an army of support behind them because the jobs they do are the most important jobs in the world. Our AP does just that.â
