Punch Newspapers Sections The Nigeria Immigration Service on Sunday said there were no armed herdsmen in the country. The NIS spokesman,  Sunday James, who stated this in an interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja, also said there had been tight security at borders since the introduction of the Migration Information and Data Analysis Systems. Recall that the Federal Government had in November 2019 installed the MIDAS,  a border management technology at three international airports, 14 land and two sea borders to check irregular migration, human trafficking and other cross-border crimes. The MIDAS systems were installed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

Muhammad Babandede The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has appealed to travellers to comply with the clearance procedures at the airports to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James. The statement stated that NIS Comptroller-General, Mr Muhammad Babandede, commended the Comptroller of Immigration at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, Sadat Hassan, for doing a “wonderful job’’. x It stated that Hassan had help to installed sanity by operating an airtight entry and exit points that had resulted in various arrests. According to the statement, the outgoing year birthed a global pandemic, COVID-19, that has prompted nations to enforce mandatory lockdowns and border closures.
