Celcom and Digi to merge, Idham Nawawi as CEO in Celcom Axiata, DiGi 08/04/2021 Comments Off on Celcom and Digi to merge, Idham Nawawi as CEO Axiata Group and Telenor Asia have announced the merger of Celcom Axiata and Digi in Malaysia. The new company will be called Celcom Digi Berhad, with an equal ownership estimated at 33.1 percent each by Axiata Group and Telenor Asia. Idham Nawawi, the current CEO of Celcom Axiata will be appointed as CEO of Celcom Digi Berhad while Albern Murty (current CEO of Digi) will become Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Both Telco giants said that the merged company “will have the capacity to invest even more to provide better quality of service and at competitive rates. Customers also will be able to maintain their choice of mobile operator brand, as both Celcom and Digi brands will continue as is post-merger.”
