SABAH Democratic Action Party, or more popularly known as DAP, a.k.a the Rocket, held its Convention or AGM recently. It has certainly come a long way since DAP captured its first seat in Sandakan in the 1978 Parliamentary election. In between, Sabah DAP has seen its highs and lows. But DAP Sabah survived and it has been 45 years or close to half-a century.

In the November 1999 federal election, PBS only managed 3 parliamentary seats, a far cry from the 8 seats that it won in 1995 and 14 in 1990. The 3 seats were in Bandau (Dr Max), Tanjong Aru (Dr Yee Moh Chai) and Tan Sri Pairin (Keningau). The trio was seen as the Flagship Carrier of PBS.
