Kota Kinabalu: The State Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry is discussing with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on the prospect of using services offered by Measat.
Its Minister Datuk Yakubah Khan said this is to enable the people to have better access to information.
“My Ministry had discussed with some companies that could help to resolve some of the issues and improve the existing services for the people to access the Internet,” he said to a supplementary question by Kadamaian assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick during question time.

Kota Kinabalu: The State Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry plans to upgrade the e-Desa programme by offering new skill training courses to help villagers in rural areas generate income through e-Commerce platforms.

(pic) said such programmes will offer skills in pursuing Youtube, Digital Marketing as well as Animation and Drone Operation.
“The Ministry is also developing an e-Desa Portal which is expected to complete in 2021 in efforts to help entrepreneurs and small-to-medium enterprises (SME) market their food-based crops or products online while promoting local tourism,”
KOTA KINABALU: A total of 423 new telecommunication towers will be built in Sabah while 2,221 existing transmitters will be upgraded to 4G technology under the first phase of National Digital Network (Jendela) plan, says state Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Yakubah Khan.
This is among the initiatives that will be rolled out in phases to improve connectivity in Sabah from now until 2022, he said.
Yakubah was responding to Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi (Warisan -Segama) on Sabah’s cooperation with the Federal Government to expedite the upgrade of Internet and communication services in the state’s rural areas.
“Sabah is the biggest recipient of the Jalinan Digital Negara (Jendela) initiative.
