BROOKLYN CENTER (AP) — The city council of the Minneapolis suburb where Daunte Wright, a Black man, was killed by police in a 2021 traffic stop has rejected

A protest is planned for Tuesday evening after Brooklyn Center’s City Council narrowly voted down a proposal to change the way police do traffic stops and searches. Under the policy, officers would not have been allowed to pull over drivers for minor infractions such as a broken taillight or objects hanging from a rearview mirror.

The fallout continues in Brooklyn Center, after a 3-to-2 Monday night city council vote killed efforts to change police policy and training for traffic stops.

Those policies were designed to prevent issues that could arise from a minor traffic stop.
