With the Historic City of Jefferson's blessing, the Jefferson City Council approved a substitute bill Monday that sets aside money to fund the repair or demolition of 14 properties along East Capitol Avenue, while also outlining a process to help find redevelopers for the properties.

Several deteriorating buildings in the East Capitol Avenue area have been listed as dangerous and are being considered for demolition if restorative action is not taken quickly.

Residents will have another chance to discuss the properties along East Capitol Avenue, as the Jefferson City Council is set to vote on a bill Monday that would set aside funds to potentially demolish or repair properties in the area.

The stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve signaled it's time to reset the clock on work Jefferson City officials need to do in the new year.
