Outcome today i could not peopl the castro, they say the courts decision was monumental and has revitalized their efforts for full equality under the law. Many say they were prepared for a different outcome in light of the conservative makeup of the court. We did not know where it was going to land. And it being so clear and straightforward was a little bit of a surprise. Many say todays decision was a bright spot and what has so far been a terrible year with the pandemic of course and the anger unleash the Police Across the country. Reporter the Supreme Court ruled employers cannot fire or discriminate against members of the Lgbtq Community based on gender, identity and sexual orientation. The decision extends the federal protections of title vii of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, to gay, lesbian and trans people. Today is a landmark victory for lgbtq equality decades in the making. Unions stopped for the entire first shift to honor juneteenth and what the day means for this nation and its people. But they took to the street. They started excuse me, they started at the port there in oakland ending at city hall to raise awareness about issues still plaguing the black community including Police Violence and systemic racism. Those who came out tell me today is really a long time coming. Weve been doing this since i was a kid. In San Francisco they had a big old park, we had rides. Officers involved in the shooting of breonna taylor. The police chief now coming out and calling this all a shock to the conscience. Taylor was shot eight times and killed by officers in her home on march 13th. Officers burst into her apartment using a no knock warrant during a narcotics investigation. No drugs were found at her home. She was studying to become a nurse. The fbi is back at her apartment today gathering evidence. What we know right now about the case against detective hankison is from a pretermination letter from the police chief which says the detective violated two standard operating procedures, obedience to rules and regulations and use of deadly force.
