MOSES LAKE – After having only one athlete place the weekend prior, BBCC wrestlers hoped to up their play as they hosted their one and only tournament in the Big Bend Scramble on Saturday, November 18 at the Devries Activity Center.
MOSES LAKE As a former collegiate wrestler himself, Daviaire Dickerson knows how to connect with wrestlers from the role of a coach. Now, Dickerson is looking to continue that as the new head coach of the Big Bend men’s wrestling program.
“I definitely can sympathize with my athletes and understand why they might be struggling in wrestling, because it may be coming from a completely outside source,” Dickerson said. “I graduated from college four years ago, so I remember those times. I remember how hard some of those days were.”
A graduate of Arizona Christian University, Dickerson got his first head coaching gig at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, where he coached the Warriors’ women’s wrestling team on an interim basis.

At the conclusion of the event, National Wrestling Coaches Association Executive Director Mike Moyer recognized the five finalists for the NAIA Women s National Coach of the Year and announced the winner as selected by their peers. The award is presented to the coach that has demonstrated outstanding effort throughout the season in developing and elevating their program on campus and in the community. The NWCA National Coach of the Year awards program is presented by Defense Soap, the official Hygiene partner of the NWCA.

Midland University has announced the hiring of Chelsea Dionisio as its new women s wrestling coach. Dionisio will be taking the helm for the Warriors later this spring while current interim head coach Daviaire Dickerson transitions into an assistant coaching role for next season.
Chelsea Dionisio I m extremely excited for the opportunity to take over the program and get to work with some amazing young women, Dionisio said. Not only that, but I m thankful to continue my coaching career at a university committed to building leaders, in and out of the classroom.
