A recent scientific study published in the journal Science has confirmed that boom sounds that emanated from a volcanic eruption in the South Pacific island of Tonga were heard in Alaska. The massive Hunga undersea volcano in the South Pacific Ocean erupted on January 15, 2022, devastating the island country of Tonga and causing a variety of atmospheric wave types.
