A UN-led operation to remove over one million barrels of crude oil from a rusting supertanker off Yemen safely concluded on Friday, preventing the immediate threat of a massive spill in the Red Sea.

The personnel were kidnapped by al Qaeda militants in Yemen’s southern region of Abyan on February 11, 2022.

The UN said it had transferred more than one million barrels of oil from dilapidated Yemeni tanker.
