NORTH AURORA — There’s a new milkman in Chicago.

As Hoffmann Family of Companies sells off its properties, a local Defiance couple will soon launch a unique farm-to-table business in old Defiance General Store building

The undisclosed offer from the Hoffmann Family of Companies through its investment arm, Osprey Capital, bested Brian Boomsma, owner of Chicago-based Dutch Farms, who made a $20 million stalking horse bid in April for Oberweis.

The Hoffmanns made the highest bid for a dairy business in Illinois. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, and it still must be approved by the bankruptcy court.
